Hey, builder! 👋

Quieter week on the engine side, but the community didn't slow down. Twelve more games built with the Phaser Game Agent: a dark fantasy auto-battler, a cat RPG, a zombie survival shooter, a 3D spinning top party game and more, all from a single sentence each.

Also this week: the full story behind Cattack! and how she won $5,000 at the Reddit hackathon, nine classic arcade games in one CRT launcher, and a cozy botany game looking for playtesters.

🔥 Fresh From the Web This Week

» Cattack!: how a digital artist won $5,000 at the Reddit hackathon [Interview]

u/derppherppp is a digital artist with a web dev background who had never built a tileset before. In one month, she drew every cat card and planet map by hand, pivoted from a space runner to a card game about collecting cats in space, and won the $5,000 Best Use of Phaser award out of 700+ entries. A few days before the deadline she told people she wasn't going to make it. She was wrong 🐱

The interview covers how she combined Phaser 3 and React on Devvit, how she decoupled the card scoring logic from the graphics to test it properly, and how pixel art on a 24x24 grid kept assets loading instantly on mobile. Well worth a read if you're thinking about entering the next one 🃏

» Retro Arcade Collection: nine classic games in one CRT launcher

Alfredo De Donno (sirAlfry) ported nine classic arcade games from Python to Phaser 4.1 and wrapped them in a retro CRT-style launcher with scanlines, neon colours and a vignette. Snake, Tetris, Pong, Space Invaders, Breakout, Maze Runner, Memory, Puzzle 15 and Tic Tac Toe — all playable from a single browser tab, no install needed.

Every game is an independent Phaser scene. No bundler, no sprite sheets, no external assets. Everything rendered procedurally through Phaser's Graphics API. The Tic Tac Toe even includes a full Minimax AI. The whole collection is MIT licensed and the source is on GitHub. 🕹️

» Seedfolk: a cozy botany game in pre-alpha… and it needs your feedback

Seedfolk is an isometric botany game built with Phaser 4 about planting mystery seeds and discovering what grows. Plant, reveal, record in your Field Journal, harvest, repeat. Deliberately gentle, deliberately curious. The pre-alpha is live on itch .io and the developer is actively looking for playtesters. Free to play, no install needed 🌿
